Detecting septicity

Septic water can be an environmental issue and can cause problems when septic water is within the water processing systems. Efforts to control septicity includes: manual sampling, sediment analysis and oxygenation.

The action of dissolved oxygen is to oxidize sulphides including hydrogen sulphide, this reduces their release to the atmosphere and the associated odours.

Chemical indicators for septicity, includes: ORP (approximately -150 mV), dissolved oxygen, nitrate and pH.
